Different from general food and medicine, lubricant has no strict shelf life. Because the performance of lubricating oil is relatively stable, as long as it is stored properly, it generally will not affect the use. Therefore, the state does not stipulate the warranty period or validity period of lubricating oil. Under the normal storage conditions of room temperature sealed state, dust-proof, water-proof and chemical smoke proof, the oil products have been stored for more than three years without any change in various indexes.
For the storage of lubricating oil, the following points should be noted:
1.The ideal storage space for canned and barreled lubricants is indoor. The lubricants packaged in small barrels and any packages that have been opened must be stored indoors to avoid the impact of climate change.
2.The 200L oil barrel placed in the open air should be placed horizontally. The two sides of each row of oil barrel should be fixed with wooden wedges to prevent it from rolling. Pay attention that the oil drain on the end face should not be placed above. Water has a bad effect on any lubricating oil. It is necessary to check the oil drum frequently for leakage. If the oil barrel must be put straight, it is advisable to turn the barrel upside down to make the barrel mouth downward; or tilt the barrel slightly with the oil drain mouth on the top to prevent rainwater from accumulating on the barrel surface from infiltrating.
3.Too low or too high temperature may affect the quality of lubricating oil, so it is not suitable to store lubricating oil in the place of overheating or supercooling for a long time.
4.When the lubricating oil is not well stored and dust and water enter the oil, it may appear turbid and precipitated. At this time, it should be stopped immediately.
