The smoke problem is caused by physical reasons, that is, the oil mist escaping into the air due to high-pressure crushing atomization. There are also chemical reasons, that is, the boiling point temperature of pure cutting oil is too low, the temperature in the processing area is close to the initial boiling point, and the cutting oil changes chemically when heated, producing smoke. The root cause of the problem is that the chemical causes are not easy to solve, which is also the most harmful.
Improve the refining degree of cutting pure oil Base Oil and increase the initial boiling point. The higher the boiling point on the apparent physical and chemical indicators, the less likely it is to produce smoke. Cutting temperature is the root of generating oil vapor smoke. From the perspective of temperature control, there are two paths: controlling accumulated temperature and strengthening heat dissipation. Fundamentally, improving the ability of extreme pressure lubrication can delay the accumulated temperature reaching the boiling point range of cutting oil. From experience, the extreme pressure capacity is increased by 5%. Under the proper liquid supply pressure, the cutting temperature can be lowered by more than 30 degrees, which can significantly reduce cutting smoke.
In order to improve the lubricating capacity, generally speaking, the greater the viscosity of cutting oil, the stronger the oil film lubricating capacity. Since viscosity represents the internal energy of lubricating oil, higher viscosity is also necessarily higher boiling point, which can also alleviate the smoke problem mentioned above. However, the increase of viscosity will inevitably lead to greater power consumption, and the problem of viscosity will emerge. The apparent phenomenon is that the interior of the machine tool is very dirty and the chips hang on the wall. At the same time, the amount of drag oil taken away by the workpiece and chip is large, and the amount of cutting oil is significantly increased.
However, from the perspective of formula, the main reason for sticking the spindle is not the viscosity of cutting oil. It is the problem of the cutting oil system, mainly in two cases: first, the additives are not completely dissolved in the base oil, showing a suspension state, such as strong polar animal and vegetable oils, which are no longer dissolved in the cutting oil after precipitation, and stick to all corners and planes of the machine tool. The second is that the wax content in the additive is too high, which causes polymerization under high pressure and high temperature. It is like continuously producing oil insoluble plastic in cutting oil, which is thrown into the machine tool after cutting at high temperature and takes root.
