Gear Oil is divided into two categories:
One is vehicle gear oil: including manual transmission gear oil and rear axle gear oil; The other is industrial gear oil: among them, industrial gear oil are divided into industrial closed gear oils, worm gear oils, and industrial open gear oils.
Classification by quality:
Referring to the performance classification of gear oils proposed by the American API (American Petroleum Institute), gear oils in my country are divided into ordinary vehicle gear oils (GL-3), medium-duty vehicle gear oils (GL-4), and heavy-duty vehicle gear oils ( GL-5) grade three, the quality is equivalent to GC-3, GC-4, GC-5 grade oil of the United States. (Generally, the good order of oil quality and performance is GL-3 to GL-5).
Classification by viscosity:
The viscosity classification of my country's vehicle gear oil adopts the American Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) viscosity classification method, which is divided into seven viscosity grades: 70W, 75W, 80W, 85W, 90, 140, and 250, among which "W" stands for winter use. SAE70W, 75W, 80W, 85W are winter oils: without "W", they are non-winter oils, and 90 and 140 are summer oils.
The lubricating oil used to lubricate gear transmissions including worm gears is called gear oil. According to the provisions of GB7631.7-89, gear oils are divided into industrial closed gear oils, industrial open gear oils, and vehicle gear oils. Viscosity classification of industrial gear oil: The viscosity classification of industrial gear oils in my country is divided into 7 grades (brands) such as 68, 100, 150, 220, 320, 460, 680 according to the central value of its kinematic viscosity at 40 ℃.
Viscosity classification of vehicle gear oil: The viscosity of vehicle gear oil in my country is classified according to the automobile gear oil viscosity classification standard SAE J306C-1983 formulated by the American Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), with W for winter and without W for summer. All 7 grades are single grade oils. The combination of winter oil with W and summer oil without W, such as 75W/90, 75W/140, 80W/90, 80W/140, etc., becomes a multi-grade oil of different widths. Like internal combustion engine oil, multi-grade oil is not restricted by seasons and hot and cold regions.
