Firstly, we will analyze the low-temperature performance of chain lubricants and chain greases. The commonly used high-temperature chain oil and Base Oil are mostly synthetic oils, with a low temperature range exceeding -45 ℃; The temperature range may vary depending on the type of synthetic oil. Currently, the minimum operating temperature that lubricating oil can achieve is -75 ℃.
In winter, when the equipment is stopped for a long time and restarted, if the viscosity of the chain oil is too high or solidifies, it can cause difficulty in starting the equipment, extend the preheating time, and even burn out the frequency converter or motor. Therefore, it is required that chain oil still has good fluidity at low temperatures. Commonly used high-temperature lubricating grease, with a minimum operating temperature of around -20 ℃; If Synthetic Base Oil is used or other modified additives are added, the temperature range can be further expanded to -40 ℃ or lower. Currently, the minimum usage temperature that lubricating grease can achieve is -70 ℃. As the ambient temperature decreases, the lubricating grease will become thicker at low temperatures and the lubrication effect will deteriorate; At the same time, the starting torque increases, making it difficult for the chain to start. If the usage environment is harsh, such as having requirements for speed and current, it may affect these parameters.
In summary, high-temperature chain lubricating oil (grease) can be used in low-temperature environments, and the core issue is the ambient temperature of the chain lubricant. Especially in cold weather in the north or winter in the south, it is necessary to choose suitable chain lubricants to avoid equipment operation failures.
