How is vapor phase rust prevention done?

Vapor phase corrosion inhibitors are generally solid and liquid, and have a certain Vapor pressure at room temperature. After the vapor volatilizes, it attaches to the surface of the workpiece to prevent rust. Vapor phase corrosion inhibitors have a certain solubility in water or solvents, and can also be dissolved in an appropriate amount of mineral oil. The usage method is as follows.

(1) Powder (or tablet, pill) method. The powder of vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor can be directly sprinkled on the surface of the metal, or the powder can be loaded into non-woven fabrics, gauze, or made into various shapes such as sheets or pellets, and hung or placed around the components. Using this method requires an appropriate distance between the metal surface and the vapor phase corrosion inhibitor. For example, when dicyclohexylamine Nitrous acid is used, the distance from the metal surface shall not exceed 30cm. The dosage should be based on the volume of the enclosed space, and should not be less than 50g per square meter of space. In environments with high humidity, the dosage should be increased. The operating procedure is:

Clean → blow dry → sprinkle vapor phase rust inhibitor powder (or tablets, pellets) → seal

(2) Solution method. Firstly, dissolve the vapor phase corrosion inhibitor in distilled water or appropriate organic solvent, and then immerse or spray the solution of this corrosion inhibitor on the surface of the metal. The outer layer is then sealed and packaged with paraffin paper or polyethylene plastic film, or can be directly placed in the sealed packaging for sealing. The operating procedure is:

Clean → Blow dry → Apply anti rust liquid → Drain → Seal

(3) Vapor phase anti rust paper (vapor phase anti rust plastic cloth) method. According to the size of the packaged parts, cut a certain size of vapor phase anti rust paper or vapor phase anti rust plastic cloth to directly package. If the packaging is large, some vapor phase rust preventive films or powder can be filled in the gaps. The operating procedure is:

Cleaning and rust prevention → Blowing dry → Vapor phase rust prevention paper packaging (Vapor phase rust prevention plastic cloth) → Sealing

(4) Vapor phase anti rust oil method. Vapor phase rust preventive oil has a dual effect of vapor phase rust prevention and contact rust prevention, and has a certain ability to replace hand sweat, moisture, neutral salt mist, and salt water, but it is easy to vaporize in the oil. It must be used in a tightly closed space to have good rust prevention effect. Generally, immersion coating and spraying methods are used for rust prevention. If used for rust prevention in internal cavities such as gearboxes and gear trains, vapor phase rust prevention oil should be injected into the inner cavity to seal it. When unsealing, the vapor phase rust prevention oil should be removed from the inner strand, leaving a small amount of rust prevention oil that does not affect operation.

Cabinets, boxes, tanks, or similar containers that use vapor phase rust inhibitors should be tightly closed when not in use. Unused vapor phase rust inhibitors should be wrapped in clean polyethylene plastic bags and sealed.
