How to identify the fake and inferior products of vehicle Gear Oil?
The inferior quality of gear oil for fake and inferior vehicles on the market is mainly manifested in two aspects.
1. The component of Base Oil is poor. Qualified gear oil is blended with standard base oil, and the fake and inferior product is added with residual oil, asphalt oil and inferior rubber oil. These components have poor thermal stability, viscosity temperature property and deep color, and are easy to be stratified or precipitated during storage.
2. The additive composition is poor, or there is no additive at all, and the quality of additive is low in fake and inferior products. Chlorinated paraffin which has been eliminated but is cheap is mostly used, or the additive dosage is insufficient and the performance is not good.
How to distinguish the true and false gear oil can refer to the following methods:
1. Look at the color
The appearance of qualified oil is uniform and transparent to light. The fake and inferior products are black and poor in transparency. Sometimes stratification or sediment can be observed at the bottom of the tank.
2. Smell
Modern gl-4 and GL-5 oil formulations mostly use sulfides instead of chlorinated paraffin. Therefore, when heated slightly, they will have a pungent thioene smell. Without this flavor or without additives, the quality is very poor.
3. Heating observation
When the gear oil is heated to 180-200 ℃, the fake and inferior products are easy to blacken.
4. Element analysis
Qualified products contain a large number of S, P elements, unqualified products contain CL elements or no obvious additive elements.
