1. According to the different materials of the workpiece, the performance focus of cold heading forming oil is also different when selecting it. (1) When selecting cold heading oil for carbon steel, the optimal viscosity should be determined based on the difficulty of the process. It is also important to note that chlorine type cold heading oil can cause rust on the machine and workpiece. However, using Yida Borun chlorine free cold heading oil can effectively avoid the problem of rust. (2) Stainless steel is a material that is prone to hardening, requiring the use of cold heading forming oil with high oil film strength and excellent extreme pressure and wear resistance. Generally, oil products containing sulfur chlorine composite additives are used to ensure extreme pressure performance while avoiding problems such as blackening and breakage of the workpiece.

Reasons for deterioration of cold heading forming oil during use: (1) The oxidation resistance of cold heading forming oil deteriorates at high temperatures, exacerbating its thermal decomposition, oxidation, and polymerization. At the same time, dust and moisture in the air enter the air intake system to contaminate the cold heading forming oil, so the cold heading forming oil is prone to deterioration. (2) The viscosity of lubricating oil changes with the increase of temperature, which means that the viscosity of cold heading forming oil decreases when heated, which can easily cause excessive consumption of cold heading forming oil (3) At high temperatures, there is a change in the density of cold heading forming oil, and at the same time, the thermal expansion of metal parts is large, resulting in a decrease in the normal fit gap between the parts and the mold, leading to increased wear of the mold punch bar. In summary, when choosing cold heading forming oil, we need to choose the appropriate oil based on its processing material and process. During use, we should pay attention to the temperature and regularly check whether the oil has deteriorated. If there is any deterioration, we should immediately replace it, otherwise it will lead to poor quality of the processed parts. Therefore, it is recommended to have a dedicated person regularly check and replace the oil during use.
