How to select industrial motor grease accurately?
In the precision construction of industrial motors, lubrication design is not obvious, but like the heart to the body, plays a vital role. If the lubrication design is not proper, it will cause the motor bearing to wear in advance, which will bring great trouble to the overall operation of the motor.
The wise choice of grease
When the motor power is small, it is recommended to use No. 2 grease, its lower consistency can ensure smooth operation.
For the motor with large power, due to the heavy load borne by the bearing, it is recommended to choose No. 3 grease with higher consistency to ensure stable lubrication effect.
Effect of temperature on motor lubrication
In the high temperature environment, the fluidity of the grease is enhanced and it is easy to lose, which leads to the weakening of the lubrication effect in the bearing room. At the same time, the increase of bearing temperature will reduce the viscosity of the Base Oil, and then the lubrication is incomplete.
On the contrary, in a low temperature environment, the consistency of the grease will increase, and the starting torque will also increase, which may lead to noise or surface fatigue of the bearing. In order to adapt to low temperature operation, low temperature grease or grease with small consistency should be selected.
The challenge of motor speed to lubrication
In a motor running at high speed, the grease in the bearing will be rolled at high speed by the rolling body. If the grease is not selected properly, the oil film thickness is insufficient, and the lubrication is poor, which will eventually lead to overheating or even damage to the bearing.
Therefore, some motor manufacturers will recommend the use of grease designed for high-speed operation.
Load requirements for motor lubrication
The main load that the motor bearing needs to bear includes rotor weight and shaft end load.
For small motors, it is recommended to choose a low consistency grease; For heavy-duty motors, grease with higher viscosity of base oil is needed. In the case of low speed, you can also consider using a grease containing extreme pressure additives.
