Difference Between High Temperature Chain Oil and Chain Grease

For many people engaged in industrial production, transportation chain products are not uncommon. As an important symbol of automated production, its role is irreplaceable. Under high temperature conditions, the transport chain usually suffers from wear, corrosion, chain stretch, noise, and chain oil dripping.


1. Transport Chain Frequently Asked Questions

The chain is not lubricated, which causes the chain to be in a dry grinding state and the noise is large;
●The shaft pin of the chain is seriously worn, and the chain is stretched and lengthened by more than 1000mm;
The chain is seriously corroded, and the rust slag falls on the surface of the product, which affects the quality of the product;
●In the early stage of equipment operation, the normal chain oil is used to lubricate, and serious dripping occurs.


2. Requirements for lubricants in transport chains

●Better oil performance is firmly adsorbed on the inner and outer surfaces of the chain, so as not to be thrown off by the centrifugal force of the chain, or squeezed by the load and separated from the friction node;
●Better permeability can penetrate into each friction link of the chain ring to form a boundary film and reduce wear;
●Better anti-oxidative and stable performance When it is in contact with air during operation, it will not accelerate oxidation and form oxides.


3. Lubrication of transport chains

● Manual regular lubrication: use an oil pot or oil brush, and fill in oil once per shift. It is suitable for transmission with low speed ν≤4m/s;
●Drip oil lubrication: Use an oil cup or an oil injector to drip 5~20 drops of lubricating oil per minute through the oil pipe at the gap between the inner and outer chain plates of the loose edge chain. Suitable for transmission with ν≤10m/s;
●Oil bath lubrication: Immerse the loose edge chain in the oil pan with a depth of 6~12mm. Applicable to the transmission of ν=12m/s;
●Splash lubrication: In a sealed container, use an oil slinger to shake up the oil, flow along the housing into the oil collection place, and then guide it to the chain. The linear speed of the oil slinger should be >3m/s;
●Pressure lubrication: When using high-power transmission with ν≥8m/s, a special oil pump should be used to spray the oil to the meshing part of the sprocket chain. The nozzles of the fuel injection pipes are arranged at the gnawing places of the chain, and the number of the nozzles of the fuel injection pipes at each gnawing person is (n+1), and n is the number of the chain rows.


4. Comparison of high temperature transport chain oils and chain greases

Today's high-temperature chain oils appear in different industries and fields because of their high-temperature resistance, plus lubrication and protection. Especially the current chain oil can also lubricate and protect the chain in the equipment, so the application of high temperature chain oil is still very wide.

First of all, in terms of adhesion, when the friction part is stationary, the grease can maintain its original shape and will not be automatically lost by gravity. When the friction part is in motion, the grease will not be as high as high temperature. Chain oil is subjected to centrifugal force and oil leakage occurs, but high-temperature chain oil is not like this, and it is not very good in terms of adhesion.
 
In addition, within the temperature range of use, the actual working temperature range of the grease is wider than that of high-temperature chain oil. Because of its own high-temperature resistance, high-temperature chain oil can be used under high temperature conditions. But today's greases can be used not only at high temperatures, but also at low temperatures. The equipment lubricated with grease is still very simple in structure, so that the design can be directly simplified, and the cost can be reduced, but the high temperature chain oil needs to be lubricated in a closed system, and the lubricated equipment is in the The structure is also very complex, so the cost will be relatively high.

When it comes to the difference between high-temperature chain oil and grease, there are actually many. For example, chain grease can be directly applied to the metal surface to provide a certain degree of protection, and because the protective film is relatively thick, it can isolate various Gases such as acid and alkali, but high temperature chain oil is relatively poor in protection ability.
