Recently, a frozen food processing plant consulted that the chain in the tangyuan production workshop produced black spots, and the manufacturer was worried that it would pollute the tangyuan produced, and the chain could not be started, leading to shutdown, and finally all the tangyuan softened.

The engineer came to the house to understand and sample the food-grade chain oil being used for dump point test. When the food-grade chain oil used was dumped to -45 ° C, the lubricating oil was completely solidified and caked on the chain. The main reason for the black spots produced by the chain is that the lubricating oil thickens after low temperature, and the lubricity is weakened, resulting in the chain operation and metal friction, and the chain appears to wear and produce black spots.

The engineer completely cleaned the chain with food grade cleaning agent, and the chain was blown dry, replaced with food grade low temperature chain oil, and the pour point test of the new food grade low temperature chain oil sample, found that the pour point of the new lubricant can flow at -65℃, and has significant anti-wear characteristics. The production line started smoothly and solved the tangyuan production order required by the customer to rush production.

What is food grade lubricant?

Internationally recognized food-grade lubricants are category H1 lubricants defined by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) - lubricants that come into occasional contact with food; According to NSF, Class H1 food grade lubricants are subject to the requirements of FDA 21 CFR 178.3570 and citation, which specify restrictions on the use of food grade lubricants and the components used.

Food grade lubricants (H1) can be safely used to produce, fabricate, package, adjust, prepare, handle, pack, transport, or hold food. Its ingredients meet the requirements of food safety and hygiene, will not have adverse effects on human health, widely used in food processing, pharmaceutical, beverage, cosmetics, tobacco and other fields.

Why use food grade lubricants?

In today's extremely high degree of industrial production, many food processing chains, due to the use of facilities and equipment or packaging materials in the food production and operation process (collectively referred to as "food contact materials") and food contamination also occurs.

According to the survey, the ordinary mechanical oil contains more cyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, the content of 3, 4-benzopyrene is higher, the carcinogenic rate of this substance is second only to aflatoxin, so in the food processing industry does not allow and should not use this type of oil as a lubricant. In line with the attitude of being responsible to consumers and the public, food manufacturers should use lubricants with toxic substances content that meet food-grade hygiene requirements to lubricate equipment.
