Water-based cutting fluid is an industrial fluid used to cool and lubricate tools and workpieces in the process of metal cutting, grinding, and grinding. As one of the most important properties of water-based cutting fluid, the anti-rust performance ensures that the workpiece will not be rusted during the processing and stored between the processes after processing, and the machine tools, tools and other equipment that are in contact with the cutting fluid will not rust.

How to test the anti-rust performance of water-based cutting fluid?

1. Iron Filtration Paper Method
The iron filing filter paper method is to wash a certain amount of cast iron filings with a solvent, then dry or blow dry them, and spread them evenly on a qualitative filter paper with a certain diameter and a certain test area in the middle. A certain volume of test solution is evenly dropped on the iron filings, covered with a petri dish cover, and placed at the test temperature for a certain period of time. After the test period expires, the iron filings on the filter paper are discarded, the filter paper is dried or blown dry with tap water, the rust condition of the filter paper is checked, and the rust degree is rated.

Result judgment standard: Grade 0: no rust, no rust spots; Grade 1: slight rust, up to three rust spots, and no rust spots larger than 1 square millimeter; Grade 2: slight rust, the rusted area is greater than 1%, more than 1 Grade 3 has many or large rust spots; Grade 3: Moderate rust, with a rusted area of 1% to 5%; Grade 4: Severe rust, with a rusted area greater than 5%.

2. Cast iron single (stack) sheet method
The cast iron single-piece and lamination method is to grind and polish the cast iron piece, wash it with gasoline and alcohol in turn, and then blow it dry for use. The single-piece test is to dip a glass rod into a certain concentration of cutting fluid, drop 5 drops on the treated test piece, keep a certain distance between the droplets, and do not connect; Coat the test piece, and then place another test piece so that the polished side is superimposed on it, and the two test pieces are separated by a thin layer of cutting fluid. Then the test piece is placed on the porcelain plate in the humidification tank, the lid is closed, and the test piece is placed in a (35±2) ℃ oven. When the trial period expires (usually 24h for a single piece, 8h for a laminated piece), wipe off the residual liquid with cotton and observe the condition of the test piece. The single-piece test piece is considered to be qualified if it is bright at the dripping point, and the laminated test piece is qualified if it is not discolored or superimposed.
