Solutions for gear oil troubles!

Gear Oil are widely used in industry. Today, taking the reducer as an example, briefly talk about the problems that exist in the use of gear oil, and how should we deal with these problems.

1. Corrosion: Due to the lack of rust inhibitors, the oil contains water-containing, corrosive extreme pressure agents and pollutants, such as acidic substances produced by the oxidation of vegetable oils. Use oil with good anti-rust properties, drain water frequently, and change oil frequently to prevent pollutants from entering the oil.


2. Many foams: mainly due to lack of Anti-foaming Agent, anti-foaming agent precipitation, improper oil level, air entering the oil, and water in the oil. Use oil with anti-foaming agent to supplement anti-foaming properties, control the amount of oil added, and prevent air and water from entering the oil.


3. Oil leakage: Mainly the gearbox is damaged, the seals are damaged, apply high-viscosity oil, and replace the seals.


4. Viscosity increase: It is mainly caused by oxidation and overheating. Use oil with good oxidation stability to avoid overheating.


5. Decrease in viscosity: the reason is that the tackifier is sheared, and a tackifier with high shear stability should be used.

6. Abnormal heating: The cause is too much oil in the gear box, too high oil viscosity, insufficient gear oil, too high load, dust accumulation outside the gear box, hindering heat dissipation. The amount of oil should be controlled, the viscosity of the oil, the load should be reduced, and the gearbox housing and adjacent metal parts should be cleaned.


7. Pollution: It is mainly the grinding of the dirt left during the assembly of the main machine or the processing of the parts. The pollutants entering through the through holes should be drained of the dirty oil, clean the gear box, replace the oil, and prevent the pollutants from entering the gear box through the vent hole.


8. Tooth surface abrasive wear: caused by grinding or other contaminated particles, the oil should be changed and the gearbox cleaned.


9. Tooth surface burn: It is mainly due to lack of oil and excessive load. Sufficient oil should be provided to reduce the load.


10. Scratches: Due to the high temperature of the tooth surface and the rupture of the oil film, the operating temperature should be lowered and extreme pressure gear oil should be used.


11. Pitting corrosion: Due to the low oil viscosity, rough tooth surface, high partial pressure, and sliding under heavy load, the viscosity of the oil should be increased to improve the smoothness of the tooth surface; to increase the viscosity of the oil, use extreme pressure gear oil.


12. Gluing: mainly due to rough tooth surface and poor gear biting caused by installation errors. Poor low-temperature starting should improve the smoothness of the tooth surface, improve assembly quality, and switch to oil with good low-temperature starting performance.


PS: Specific problems need to be analyzed in detail, and all parties must be considered in order to save machinery and fuel, so as to achieve the purpose of reducing costs.
