How to select lubricant for different brands cars?

There are different sources of cars in the market, such as from America, German, Japan, Korea, China, etc. The question is how to select lubricant oil for different sources cars?


1. German cars 

They generally have high internal working pressure, high temperature and high requirements for lubricating oil. Therefore, it is recommended that the oil in accordance with ACEA standard be used, and the word ACEA will be marked on the outer packaging of the general oil barrel. 


2. Japanese and Korean cars

The engine design of Japanese and Korean cars is more precise, and the requirements for lubricating oil are not as strict as those of German cars. They generally prefer low viscosity oil, meet the SM,SN level of API standard, and choose 0W20 or 5W30 on viscosity. 


3. American cars

American series car and Japanese series car are similar, suitable for using low viscosity oil, viscosity 5W30, 5W40, 0W40 can. Oil with ACEA A 3 / B 4, A 5 / B 5 or ILSAC GF-5 grades on the package also applies to American cars. If it is a GM model, you can recognize the "dexos" logo, also low viscosity oil, through the United States GM dexos certification, there is no doubt that it is very suitable for GM models. 


4. Chinese cars

Chinese cars technology is biased towards Japan and the United States, such as Harvard, Chery, Zhongtai, Dongfeng and other independent brands, so generally in accordance with API or GF standard lubricating oil are applicable, viscosity requirements are also the same.
