Cold-rolling lubrication plays an important role in the surface quality of cold-rolled products, shape control, tool life and rolling force consumption. It is one of the core technologies of cold-rolling. However, due to differences in process conditions and actual production, it is difficult to properly select emulsified oils and maintain uniform and standardized emulsions. As a result, the advantages of the rolling process cannot be fully utilized, product quality is reduced, and environmental pollution and resource waste are caused.

The process lubrication and process cooling system is referred to as the emulsion system for short. The same emulsion in the similar operation process, the use effect and product quality often have great differences, which has a great relationship with the management of the emulsion. In order to give full play to the best use effect of emulsions, in addition to being familiar with its properties and characteristics, it is also necessary to strengthen the management of the use of emulsions. This is essential for extending its service life, improving economic benefits, and even meeting environmental protection requirements.

Matters needing attention in the use of emulsion

(1) During use, the oil skimmer should be used to frequently remove the floating oil layer and dirt on the surface of the emulsion tank; the supply tank, collection tank and filter of the emulsion should be cleaned regularly and thoroughly. According to the use of the emulsion, regular supplements or Replace with a new liquid; always check the nozzle of the emulsion when using it to avoid uneven spraying of the emulsion or blockage of the nozzle.

(2) Before entering the cold rolling process, the residual acid on the surface of the rolling piece should be fully squeezed out and cleaned to make the surface dry. The residual acid will demulsify the emulsion, which not only affects the lubrication performance, but also causes emulsion pitting. During cold rolling, high-pressure compressed air should be used at the exit of the rolling mill to purge the surface of the strip to clean the emulsion on the surface of the strip. After cold rolling, the emulsion on the rolled piece should be dried in time, and the production cycle should be reasonably arranged to avoid long-term storage to prevent the surface of the product from discoloration or rust.

(3) When preparing the emulsion, the concentrated liquid must be added to water and stirred by machinery or compressed air to make the emulsion uniform. Should also fully consider the water quality, such as water turbidity, acidity and alkalinity and ion content and other factors on the quality of the emulsion. In use, a strict inspection system should be established to regularly check the quality of the emulsion, especially the concentration, stability, corrosion resistance, pH value, and bacterial content.

(4) Determine the amount of emulsion used according to the rolling power, determine the amount of emulsion consumption of the cold rolling mill, and spray the emulsion on the surface of the roll system and strip steel with high pressure. When the mill is shut down, the emulsion circulation system should circulate for 1 hour at regular intervals to avoid the growth of fungi or algae in the emulsion.
