What cutting fluid should be used for hole machining? It's so important

In metal processing, in order to protect both processing equipment and processed products from damage, the frequency of use of cutting oil and cutting fluid is often high and indispensable. In CNC machining, hole machining mainly refers to drilling, reaming, and boring on a boring machine. In view of the difficulty of chip removal and heat dissipation, and the poor rigidity of the tool (rod), the cutting speed of hole machining is lower than that of outer contour machining, and the difficulty is higher than that of outer contour machining. When drilling, use a general twist drill to drill, which belongs to rough machining. It is difficult to remove chips during drilling, and it is difficult to release the cutting heat, which often leads to annealing of the cutting edge, which affects the service life and processing rate of the drill bit. Choosing a cutting fluid with good performance can significantly prolong the life of the drill bit and greatly improve the production efficiency.

1. The synthetic cutting fluid has good cooling properties and can cool the drill bit in time, which is extremely effective in prolonging the life of the tool and improving the processing efficiency. For difficult-to-cut materials such as stainless steel and heat-resistant alloys, extreme pressure cutting oils with low viscosity can be selected. When drilling, whether it is general drilling or deep hole drilling, the heat dissipation condition is poor, which will cause a lot of cutting heat. The discharge direction of the chips is opposite to the feeding direction of the drill bit. For cooling and auxiliary chip removal, the cutting fluid should first have good permeability, and the fluid supply method, flow rate and pressure should also meet the requirements.

2. The general-purpose cutting oil is a medium-load cutting oil with the latest lubricating technology. It is environmentally friendly, does not contain sulfur, does not irritate the skin, is non-corrosive to copper and aluminum processing, and has a short-term anti-rust function for processed steel materials. It can effectively prevent metal contact and sintering, meet the processes of turning, milling, drilling, boring, reaming, tapping, engraving, etc., and significantly improve the machining accuracy and surface finish of the workpiece.

3. In terms of improving the life of the drill bit, the cutting oil is generally better than the cutting fluid, and the low-viscosity active vulcanized oil in the cutting oil has the best overall performance of any cutting fluid.

4. In terms of controlling the pore size index, cutting oil enlarges the pore size, while water-based cutting fluid reduces the pore size. It can be seen that, in order to control the size of the reaming hole, when using a new reamer, use water-based cutting fluid to make the hole not easy to expand. When the reamer is worn to a certain extent, oil-based cutting fluid can be used to slightly expand the aperture.

5. In reducing the surface roughness of the reaming hole, the use of emulsion is the best, followed by cutting oil, and the worst is cutting fluid. Among cutting oils, activated sulfurized chlorinated oil has the best effect, followed by chlorine-containing extreme pressure oil, mixed mineral oil, and pure mineral oil. Basically the same.
